The dissolving of dermal fillers is an advanced medical procedure in which hyaluronidase is used to break down existing and undesirable filler from treatments undergone elsewhere. It is often used when patients have had filler administered incorrectly or poorly by a previous clinic or practitioner.

Dissolve FAQs

Hyaluronidase is an enzyme, which is naturally occurring in the human body and is often used to safely reverse the appearance of hyaluronic acid based dermal fillers. A high concentration of the enzyme is injected into the area in which the unwanted filler sits. Within minutes,  the dissolving process begins and the dermal filler breaks down and begins to soften.

Topical numbing cream can be applied by the ESHO medical expert to ensure that the procedure is not only safe but comfortable.

Although the hyaluronic filler starts to break down immediately upon injecting the hyaluronidase, it can take 24-48 hours for it to dissolve completely. Swelling can also often be experienced post treatment. The patient’s results will be assessed at their review appointment which is typically 2-3 weeks following the procedure.

Should the patient desire for the area to be ‘re-filled’ with hyaluronic filler following their dissolve, this can be discussed in the patient’s initial consultation or treatment review. Although a minimum two-week break is required between any dissolve treatment and further administering of dermal fillers.
