A Wimbledon Clinic favourite amongst our Skin Specialists; the ClearVein DyeVL is a long-pulsed Nd:YAG laser that works by offering a powerful solution for treating both vascular and pigmented lesions on the face, neck and décolleté. DyeVL is a non-invasive treatment that uses the combination of two trusted technologies known as Pulsed Dye laser and an advanced form of Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) which are the new ‘GOLD STANDARD’ for treatment.

The ClearVein DyeVL treatment is one of the FIRST effective treatment procedures that has been used to improve and reduce the appearance of vascular lesions. DyeVL works by causing photo-thermal reactions, targeting the haemoglobin that is responsible for causing facial redness, flushing and vascular lesions. With vascular concerns, the heat energy from the laser is absorbed, causes coagulation of the blood capillaries, and then disintegrates the lesions through the bodies’ immune response via lymphatic drainage. For pigmentation concerns, the heat energy from the laser causes thermal damage directly to the melanocytes within the internal layer of the skin, causing scabbing and eventual peeling of the pigmented lesion, allowing the healing process to complete.

In most cases, patients usually require 3-6 sessions of ClearVein DyeVL treatments spaced 2-3 weeks apart. However, to proceed with DyeVL treatment, you are required to have a medical consultation that will be carried out with one of our ESHO. MD Clinical Skin Specialists, who will assess and recommend the most suitable treatment course.

ClearVein DyeVL targets concerns such as:

  • Rosacea
  • Extreme Redness
  • Reactive/Inflamed Skin
  • Spider Veins
  • Freckles
  • Sun Damage
  • Vascular Concerns
  • Cherry/Spider Angiomas

ClearVein DyeVL Laser FAQs

All our ESHO. MD Skin Specialists are trained at a high standard to ensure that the treatment is carried out efficiently whilst providing patients with maximum comfort. With the Alma Harmony XL machine, the ClearVein DyeVL includes a built-in cooler to reduce any discomfort. You can expect to experience a slight flicking sensation accompanied by some mild warmth within treatment.

Typically, after ClearVein DyeVL treatment you may find that the area is sometimes darker in colour, which is a sign that the treatment is working effectively. Although it’s likely you see a visible improvement following your first session, you are typically required to have between 3-6 treatments to see the best level of results. Your ESHO. MD Skin Specialist will advise you appropriately upon inspection in your consultation.

With most vascular concerns, there is always a risk of reoccurrence depending on the underlying cause of the condition. Therefore, in the future following your course of DyeVL treatments, you may require further sessions to address any vascular concerns that have reappeared due to sun damage, lack of care, etc.

Following your DyeVL treatment or within your treatment plan, it is strongly recommended to avoid direct sunlight for at least 2 weeks post-treatment. This is to reduce the worsening of the vascular condition and to prevent the development of hyperpigmentation. You should be regularly applying SPF to your face or the area as part of your skincare regime already, but please be extra diligent and even wear a hat when applicable.

Likewise, if you are due to go on holiday, you must avoid DyeVL treatment 2 weeks before holiday. Please also avoid applying artificial tan on the treatment area when undergoing treatment too!
