Maintaining healthly skin is essential during and post pregnancy. In fact, during pregnancy, 90% of women experience a worsening of pre-existing skin conditions or the appearance of new dermatoses.
It is recommended that the use of retinols is avoided during pregnancy, especially during the first trimester. The skin absorbs very little salicylic acid from products below a 2% concentration, anything higher however, can pose a greater risk. Here at ESHO. MD we take this into account when prescribing products and recommending treatments, so these two ingredients will be avoided altogether. We have a variety of adapted pHformula treatments and a list of pHformula products that are completely safe for use by those pregnant or lactating!
