We understand mistakes can be made, even permanent ones… well worry no further. In modern times, there’s nothing lasers can’t treat… and tattoo’s are definitely one of them, even coloured ones!

The mechanical QSwitch laser The Alma Harmony XL Pro Q-Switch laser works by delivering ultra-short pulses that are absorbed by the ink stuck within the deeper layers of the skin, causing the ink particles to disperse by a photo-acoustic effect, while ensuring that the surrounding tissue remains intact. Your body’s lymphatic system then works by clearing the ink particles resulting in the fading of the tattoo with a minimal risk of scarring and discolouration.

Multi colour tattoo removal requires a high powered laser that can deliver enough energy to be absorbed by all colours. The high power QSwitch Nd YAG 1064nm laser is ideal for treating darker colours while the 532nm wavelength is effective for brighter ink colours.

Typically most patients need 8-12 sessions, however, this is completely dependent upon the tattoo.

A consultation is required with one of our ESHO. MD Skin Specialists to asses the tattoo and determine an estimate of how many sessions may be necessary and what results to expect.

Laser Tattoo Removal FAQs

Results vary from patient to patient. Depending on the patient and how their body reacts to the treatment and healing process, you can either expect to see a significant amount of fading or even find that the tattoo has completely gone! This all depends on skin type, lifestyle factors, the age and nature of the tattoo and the type of ink initially used.
You’ll see results immediately, but it takes multiple sessions to make a tattoo disappear completely. On average, you typically require 6-8 sessions, across 6–8 week intervals. However, depending on how the tattoo breaks down, you may find that you require more
sessions or even fewer. An estimate will be provided and discussed with your ESHO. MD Skin Specialist within your consultation and thereafter at the beginning of each session within your package.
Tattoo removal isn’t the most comfortable of laser treatments, however, with the Alma Harmony XL Tattoo Removal machine, there is a built-in cooling system to
help maximise comfort levels.
Topical Anaesthesia can be applied to the area 15-30 minutes before your laser tattoo removal procedure; however, you must inform and discuss this with your ESHO. MD Skin Specialists prior to your appointment, to ensure that they are happy and have the time factored in,  for you to do so.
The powerful Q-Switch NdYAG laser uses multiple wavelengths so it can treat tattoos of ALL colours. The laser penetrates deep into the skin and targets the ink which then begins to breakdown into shattered ink particles which the body naturally excretes over time.
The Alma Harmony XL Pro Tattoo Removal is a clinically proven laser device that features innovative technology providing a safe, fast and effective treatment for most skin types. Remarkable Versatility is one of the Alma Harmony XL Pros’ most stand-out features, as it utilises multiple wavelengths making it extremely effective in the selection of a variety of different colours of tattoo inks.

Unfortunately, whether you’ve had a professional or amateur tattoo, the procedure has a risk of scarring. This could be caused by too much trauma to the area or sometimes the depth in which the tattoo has been performed. When visiting the ESHO. MD Clinic for a laser tattoo removal consultation, your ESHO. MD Skin Specialist will talk you through the laser tattoo removal process and examine the tattoo that you wish to have
removed. During assessment, if there is suspected scarring, your ESHO. MD Skin Specialist will ask how old the tattoo is to ensure that there is no fresh scarring and discuss what to expect from the removal. Unfortunately, the treatment DOES NOT treat scarring and sometimes once the tattoo has been removed, the scarring may be more visible.

Sun Exposure is a big no-no! During your course of laser tattoo removal sessions, you must ensure that the tattoo that is being removed is always covered. Exposing the tattoo to the sun can cause discolouration and affect the healing ability of the tattoo resulting in a higher risk of hyper/hypopigmentation alongside a higher risk of blistering. You must also ensure that there is no active tan on or around the area where the tattoo is being removed. If there is a present/active tan on the area that you wish to have the tattoo removed, you will have to wait until the tan has gone before proceeding to treat. If ever unsure, please do not hesitate to get in touch and our Patient Care team will be happy to help answer any questions you may have, so you can still book that holiday!
